Coleman Reunion Pine Lake

The Coleman Reunion was at Pine Lake Fri.-Sun. We went up and camped all weekend. Austin was already up there because he had scout camp. He couldn't wait for us to get up there and rescue him from scout camp. I think he just wanted his Gameboy?! The first day Mc, Jarrin, and I walked to the lake from our campsite. It was about a mile which wasn't too bad except the kids forgot their sneakers and had to hike in flip-flops. As soon as we got to the lake, Darrin came back from getting water and the kids hitched a ride.

Jarrin loves to camp. He had a ball blowing bubbles, playing in the campfire, and collecting sticks he called his "survival sticks". He also had a survival song to sing!! "The Eye of the Tiger". Mc and I were trying not to laugh!



Jerry and his brothers and sisters that were able to come to the reunion.



On Sunday we took a day trip over the mountain. I wasn't too sure about it. I don't like heights very well and it was very high! We also went across Hell's Backbone, which is a one lane bridge across a huge canyon! It has gotten better though, now it is paved and has guard rails. Last time we went across it was a wooden bridge with no guard rails. Talk about scary!!! The kids loved it! We went down into Salt Gulch and showed the kids the ranch where Grandpa Coleman grew up, and then drove into Boulder for a drink. As we drove towards Escalante we decided to stop and hike to Calf Creek Falls. It was a hot, long, tiring hike but the kids did great! They loved seeing the waterfall at the end. The hardest part was hiking all the way back.

Jarrin Lost his First Tooth!

I never thought he would let this tooth fall out! It's only been loose for the past 4 months! He was so worried about the thought of having a loose tooth. He first found out it was loose when he was staying at Grandma & Grandpa Coleman's house. When I went to pick him up, Rosa Lie said he was in tears when he discovered it was loose. It took a lot of convincing to let him know it was ok. I don't know if he fully believed us. Today we were playing around and his chin hit my shoulder and out it popped. He just stopped for a minute and I thought "Oh no here come the tears!" But he didn't cry! He looked for his tooth and when we found it we put it in a bag and McKenna showed him where to put it under his pillow. He ran straight to the mirror to check out his new grin then we took this picture. Now he is pretty proud of it. As soon as Darrin walked in the door from work he showed him! So all is well!

Father's Day

This is not us!!! These are some insane people that we saw go out on a ledge past the fences!



This Father's Day we decided to take advantage of the national park free weekend and headed up to the Grand Canyon. It was Jarrin's first time going the canyon, Austin and McKenna could not remember going there before. They were only 6 and 3 the last time they went to the canyon. It was fun to do the tourist thing where you live. That doesn't get to happen very often. It was very windy and it made Jarrin a little nervous when we walked out to the lookouts. We held his hand the whole time, but as we got out on the lookout he would grip tighter. We also saw some crazy people that walked out on the ledges past the fence. I got a picture of them up above. We couldn't believe they would do that!! It freaked all of us out. Austin said it was a rare breed of animal - the nincompoop! The kids were excited to go to the gift shop as much as seeing the canyon. Austin got a pocketknife, Jarrin got a play knife that immediately he hooked to his pants! It was really cute. Mc got a little leather purse, a toy brighty and some playing cards with pictures of the Grand Canyon. We had Father's Day dinner in the lodge dining room. It was a neat place to eat overlooking the canyon. Jarrin loved the fries and ketchup and had to share his fries with everyone! It was a great Father's Day at least Darrin said it was!

My Grandma - Dolores Jacobo

Here is my grandmother's obituary. She passed away a couple of months ago. I will always remember what a great grandma she was. She loved to shop and always took me to the mall when I would come visit. She started a tradition many years ago of getting me a holiday Barbie every Christmas. I have all of them still in the boxes. It is a great collection. She always called me "mi hija" (my little girl). She made the best homemade tortillas, carnitas, and spanish rice. She was a great cook! I will miss her very much.

"Star Light, Star Bright" M. Dolores Jacobo passed away at home surrounded by family on April 2, 2009. Dolores was born July 3, 1926 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dolores is survived by her brother, Frank Jacobo; children, Mario Cruz, John Sanchez and Diane S. Morrow; grandchildren, Robin Sanchez Coleman, Jaime Morrow Philips, Vincent Cruz, Aaron Morrow, Eric Sanchez and Chanyn Sanchez; great- grandchildren, Austin, McKenna and Jarrin Coleman and Wyatt, Madison and Sawyer Philips.

Relay for Life

The Relay for Life was June 5-6 at the Kanab High School track. The weather didn't cooperate very well, but I think everyone still had a fun time. It started at 6pm with a ceremony for cancer survivors and caregivers. Cindy & RosaLie walked the first lap that was designated for survivors and caregivers. We had a little camp set up in the middle of the football field. We set up a tent and chairs and had lots of food and drinks so we could sit around and visit while we were waiting our turn to walk. Everyone on our team did their part and helped with the walking. Lynn Button walked 46 laps for every year of Wade's life. A few of us stayed there all night and froze! It got down to 39 degrees! Who would have thought June would be that cold. Darrin, Austin, Jarrin, RosaLie, Cindy, and I stayed all night. Jarrin kept everyone entertained with his licorice dance and his funny comments. When he was ready for bed he told everyone to hold it down because he was trying to sleep!! At dark they held the luminaria ceremony where they read all the names of the people being honored with a luminaria. It was really neat when they had all the luminarias lit all around the track, and the word HOPE lit up on the bleachers. The Kane County Relay brought in over $11,000 for cancer research. We had a great time, but we were all pretty worn out by the next morning!! It felt good to help with such a great cause! I am very thankful to everyone on our team and everyone who donated!

Happy Anniversary!

June 5th is our 16th anniversary! My friend Kim couldn't believe Darrin ever had long hair, so I had to post this picture to prove it! It might not be on here long if Darrin finds out it's on here! This was taken at our reception at Red Hills. We had a very eventful wedding day. The flowers in my bouquet froze over night. It was supposed to have all white flowers. The ring bearer lost the ring in the grass. Everyone was on their hands and knees looking for it, and luckily someone found it. When we got to the reception the top layer of the cake had fallen on the floor!!! Everything worked out and here we are 16 years later.
