Weekend Getaway

We went to Salt Lake for the weekend. Darrin had to go up for EMT testing, so we thought we'd have some fun too. The first night we went to the Oquirrh temple open house. The kids had a great time. We watched an introductory video then toured the temple, afterwards they had refreshments for everyone. The second day we took the kids to a waterpark. I didn't get any pictures of the kids swimming because I was afraid of getting the camera wet. There was water spraying everywhere. Jarrin liked a few of the slides, but there were some he wouldn't try. They kind of freaked him out. All the kids liked the lazy river. You had to be on tubes to float around and Austin and McKenna liked tipping each other. Later in the day we went to see the new Harry Potter movie. That was Austin's favorite thing to do. After the movie we decided to go play miniature golf. We had a lot of fun. Jarrin struggled a little bit, but we helped him. He wanted to go back the next day. It was a great weekend. It was very nice to get away.

Happy Birthday Jarrin!

Jarrin has been looking forward to this day for a while. We had a pool party with family and friends for his big day.
It was a great day for a pool party! Nice and warm! The kids all swam and swam and swam. I could hardly get them out to eat or open presents!

I finally got him out of the pool to open presents. He got a bag of gold coins from Aunt Cindy!!!!! He also got the root beer and pepsi he was hoping for!! When I asked him a few days ago what he wanted for his birthday, he couldn't come up with anything. After a while of thinking he said, "I want some root beer and some mini pepsi." He is easy to please.

Best Friends!

The kids decided they really wanted to go volunteer at Best Friends. Our friend Jeff works up there and he met us up there and got us situated. We had to watch an orientation video first, which Jarrin was not very patient for. Then Jeff had it set up so the kids could go to "Old Friends". This is where the old dogs are. McKenna really wants to work with dogs, but she is also half afraid of them. We thought this would be a perfect place for them to get their feet wet! We got to go around and meet all the dogs. The girls also helped wash dog dishes since we got there right after feeding time. Then they arranged for the kids to take one of the dogs on an outing. We took Mariette. She wasn't exactly an old dog, but she was super sweet. She ended up in "Old Friends" because she was sick with pnuemonia when she came to Best Friends and now has heart worm. She was great with the kids and they loved her. We brought her home and they walked her around the yard, brushed her, and fed her treats. The kids had a great time and are already begging to go back.

4th of July!!

The 4th of July is always a lot of fun. Here are a few snapshots of the day.

We watched the fireworks from the lawn at the park. It is quite a view! Darrin helped light the fireworks this year with the fire department.

Jarrin and McKenna are waiting for the parade to start. They sat with Grandma & Grandpa Kurtz because Darrin was working, Austin was carrying flags in the parade, and I had to ride on the class of 1989 float!

Here is Austin carrying flags in the parade. He was not happy, and told us we were not to take his picture. Ha, Ha!!

It was our 20 year class reunion this year! We had a dinner on July 3rd at the elementary school. This is a picture of all the classmates that were there. We visited, played 80's trivia, and watched a slide show of old and recent photos of our classmates. It was fun to catch up on what everyone is up to.
